Brooklyn Nets superstar Kevin Durant has received so much flak back in the summer of 2016 when he bolted out of the Oklahoma City Thunder to join the immensely stacked Golden State Warriors team.

At the time, the Thunder were coming off a stinging defeat to the Dubs in the Western Conference Finals, where they blew a 3-1 series lead.

Almost four years from the highly-criticized decision, Durant addressed the real reason why he decided to leave OKC. The now 31-year-old forward offered a blunt take during an appearance on the All The Smoke Podcast with retired NBA players Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson.

KD, of course, played with another superstar in Russell Westbrook during his nine-year tenure in OKC. The team made it all the way to the Finals in 2012, only to lose to the LeBron James-led Miami Heat in five games.

Durant averaged magnificent numbers of 28.2 points, 8.2 rebounds, 5 assists, and 1.2 blocks per game in his last year in OKC. He led the Thunder to the third-best record in the Western Conference after accumulating 55 wins in the regular season.

Apart from Westbrook, Durant played with the likes of Steven Adams, Serge Ibaka, Enes Kanter, Randy Foye and Nick Collison in the 2015-16 season.

No doubt KD was the most talented player for then-OKC head coach Scott Brooks. He bailed out his team countless times and made sure the Thunder remained competitive throughout his stay in Oklahoma.

Kevin Durant went on to win two titles with the Warriors, nabbing two Finals MVP trophies along the way. The one-time league MVP has since teamed up with Kyrie Irving in Brooklyn, though he is still recovering from an Achilles injury and is expected to return next season.
