Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant isn't afraid to speak his mind. His most recent eye-opening comments involved his former teams, the Oklahoma City Thunder and Golden State Warriors. The superstar made it clear that he is expecting both teams to retire his jersey once he retires from the NBA.

Neither team addressed Durant's bold statement, but the Thunder sent a sign that they head him. General manager Sam Presti addressed attendees at an alumni player event that everyone who plays for the franchise will be respected and welcomed. Although it was far from a direct shot at Durant, or even a subliminal diss, the sentiment surely carries over to the greatest player in franchise history.

Durant's tenure in OKC is indisputably worthy of jersey retirement. He led the Thunder to their only NBA Finals appearance since relocating to Oklahoma City, won an MVP award and established himself as one of the best players of his era. His eight years in the Thunder jersey made up the organization's best years since relocating from Seattle.

Although the ending to his tenure with the Thunder wasn't pretty, he was invaluable to the franchise. His swift departure from the team is a thing of the past. Both he and the team have taken very different paths since then and should recognize the great times they enjoyed together.

With Durant having plenty more years before he hangs up his sneakers, it remains to be seen when he will get his honor. There should be no doubts about the Thunder honoring him.
