As fate would have it, Carmelo Anthony will tip-off his career with the Oklahoma City Thunder facing his demons, hosting the New York Knicks on Thursday in primetime television.

The former Knick plans to use this game to “close that chapter” of his life and start another next to new teammates Russell Westbrook and Paul George, who will suit up next to him en route to this new season.

“This is an important game for me because it gives me an opportunity to go out there and kind of close that chapter,” said Anthony. “I don't think that chapter has been closed yet.”

“I think tomorrow with me running out on that court in a different uniform kind of closes that New York chapter for me.”

Melo has shown adoration for the mecca of basketball and at times wanted to outlast the Knicks' brass that wanted him out during his last year there.

The perennial 20-plus-point scorer will now have the chance to put the last six-and-a-half seasons behind him in hopes to thrive with his new team.

The Thunder and the Knicks will lead a Thursday night TNT double-header from Chesapeake Energy Arena at 5 p.m. PT.
