Even as the stretch run of the MLB season is well underway, Detroit Tigers manager A.J. Hinch is instead looking ahead to the upcoming free agency period.

To many, the Tigers are not currently deemed among the top free agent destinations in all of baseball. But Hinch wants to change this over his current tenure with the team, and he aims to begin this process in the offseason.

Speaking ahead of the Tigers' home game against the Toronto Blue Jays, Hinch gave a bit of insight into the club's mindset for the upcoming free agency period, where he gave an under-the-radar open invitation to any big-name talents.

“We're going to reestablish ourselves as a winning franchise and develop a winning culture,” Hinch said. “If you want to be part of it, then you'll come. If you don't, then we'll beat you.”

Although the Tigers will not be making a return to the postseason later this year, they have been among the surprise teams in MLB this season. Detroit was well projected to finish at the bottom of the AL Central standings, but at the moment, the team is just five games under the .500 mark.

The Tigers will have plenty to work with in free agency, as they are currently locked into a mere $44.5 million in contracts for next season, which ranks them at 22nd in team payroll.

From the plethora of available potent shortstops to the multitude of veteran starting pitchers who could opt out of their respective contracts, the Tigers sure will have numerous options on just what to do to improve the team come free agency. If they aim to grant Miguel Cabrera's wish to finish his career in Detroit as a World Series winner, then the front office has much work to do in the upcoming offseason.
