The Minnesota Timberwolves recently waived forward Cam Reynolds, but according to reports, they are still interested in bringing him back. However, he's not one of the team's priority at the moment.
Told the #Twolves would have interest in re-signing Reynolds if they strike out in free agency. This move, which I still can't fully figure out, was about what Rosas is trying to accomplish, not Reynolds having a guarantee elsewhere.

The Timberwolves will be big-name hunting once free agency opens this Sunday, and they will look to acquire All-Star guard D'Angelo Russell either by matching the Brooklyn Nets' qualifying offer or by convincing them to trade him. Moreover, the Wolves are looking to add mid-tier free agents in the hopes of improving their roster as they look to get back in the playoff race next season.
If Minnesota falls short on executing their plans, that's the only time that they will bring back Reynolds. In short, he's the last resort.
Reynolds signed with the Timberwolves on February 2019 and appeared in 19 games this past season, averaging 5.0 points and 1.6 rebounds in 13.6 minutes per game. He also shot 41 percent from 3. He will definitely get some interest from opposing teams who are looking to add shooters, and it's possible for the Wolves to lose him if they put too much focus on their free agency aspirations.
At this point, there is no report about Russell having any interest in playing for the Wolves. It seems that the All-Star guard's only option is staying with the Nets or going back to the Los Angeles Lakers. Minnesota will still try to land D'Lo, but there's no certainty that he would even entertain the idea of playing for a non-playoff team.
So losing both Russell and Reynolds could be a double black eye for the team.
