Minnesota Timberwolves guard Patrick Beverley finished the regular season in the most Pat Bev way: by getting ejected after two technical fouls.

Beverley has always been known for his vocal nature, and while he is not afraid of talking trash to his opponents, the same goes on the way he acts towards referees. Unfortunately for him, that came back to bite him.

In the closing seconds of the second quarter of their game against the Chicago Bulls, Beverley muscled his way to the rim for a tough finish. After which, though, he seemed to have some words with the referee–something the official clearly didn't like. The Timberwolves vet was then slapped with his second technical of the night, automatically ejecting him from the contest.

As everyone knows, Beverley wouldn't go out without a word, and he made sure to let the referee hear. Before he left the floor, he kept calling the official that threw him out “trash.”

Now that is certainly not a good thing for Patrick Beverley and the Timberwolves. For one, Pat Bev can surely expect a fine for his actions towards the referees. Getting ejected for his previous actions is one thing, but confronting and insulting the referees after he was ejected is another.

For the Timberwolves, they'll hope Beverley won't be punished with a suspension for what he did. After all, they still need him when they head to the play-in and face off against the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday. Before he left the game with the Bulls, Beverley played roughly 15 minutes and recorded five points and four assists.

Sunday's game against the Chicago Bulls has no impact on the standings. However, if the Timberwolves lose Beverley, that is a big hit to their defense and overall play. Hopefully, that won't be the case or else Beverley will surely regret what he just did.

For now, fans have to wait and see what the NBA will do with the incident. As mentioned, the likelihood of a fine is high–given how the NBA punished other minor actions before–although any other punishment remains to be seen.
