There are a few things that Tom Thibodeau has loved more than bringing back former players that he coached with the Chicago Bulls to play on the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Since he took over as the head coach of the Wolves he has had Derrick Rose, Taj Gibson, Jimmy Butler, and Aaron Brooks. All of those guys were a part of the Bulls when he was the coach there and he either signed or traded for all of these guys to play for the Wolves.
When Rose was traded to the Utah Jazz from the Cleveland Cavaliers and then bought out the first rumors of where he would go all pointed to the reuniting with his former head coach. Although he didn't sign right away he did end up signing and played a big role for the Wolves especially in the playoffs. Tom Thibodeau once again praised the way that Rose played and hinted at the Wolves trying to re-sign him.
Rose struggled at the beginning with the Wolves and a lot of the fans were not happy with the signing but after he got settled in with his new team, he really thrived.
In the five games that Rose played this postseason, he averaged 23.8 minutes putting up 14.2 points per game. He was a burst of energy off the bench and really helped carry the second unit, a unit that struggled to score most of the year.
If he can stay healthy, and the Wolves can re-sign him next year he could be a big key off the bench as they try to make a deeper run in the playoffs.
