The Los Angeles Lakers have a lot to be happy about Timofey Mozgov after he powered his native Russia to an unbeaten run in the 2017 Eurobasket qualifiers.

The 7-foot-1 center posted averages of 12.3 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks — a welcome sight for his new team.

Mozgov injured his groin while playing for his country last month, but eventually recovered as he posted seven points, 10 rebounds, and three blocks en route to a 63-59 win over Sweden on Saturday.

The 30-year-old big man received a four-year, $64 million contract from the Lakers and is expected to start at center.

With six weeks left to recuperate before the start of the season, Mozgov will be tasked with being a rim protector and anything they can get from him on the offensive end will be a bonus for coach Luke Walton and his staff.
