Antonio Conte is hard at work looking to fortify his Tottenham squad ahead of the 2022-23 season. After securing Champions League qualification by finishing fourth in the Premier League last year, Tottenham has positioned themselves well to make some significant signings in the summer window. Conte has already identified a handful of potential targets, and he’s been dealt a huge boost in his pursuit of Inter Milan center-back Alessandro Bastoni. According to 90min, Bastoni has informed Inter Milan that he wishes to join Spurs this summer.

Per 90min, the 23-year-old defenseman has informed the club of his desire to join forces with Conte at Tottenham. Inter had been determined to hold onto Bastoni in the summer window, but that seems less likely following his request to leave.

Playing under Conte, Bastoni and Inter Milan won the Serie A title in 2020-21. He had another impressive season in 2021-22, which only increased Conte’s interest in adding him to his ranks in North London. The report from 90min indicates that Inter Milan will “reluctantly” enter discussions with Tottenham over the potential sale of the player, after which they would need to find a replacement for Bastoni.

Bastoni joined Inter Milan in 2018 after the club purchased him from Atalanta for a fee just shy of $35 million. After being loaned out to Parma in 2018-19, Bastoni returned to San Siro where he became a mainstay in the back line for Inter Milan.

Tottenham was expected to face some competition from other top clubs over the signing of Bastoni, with Manchester United rumored to be interested. However, the latest reports suggest Bastoni is keen on joining Spurs, a major coup for Conte and the club ahead of their return to Champions League football.
