Turkey’s loss is Atlanta’s gain.

Since 2006, Ersan Ilyasova has been of service to his home country’s national basketball team. As such, it is only fitting for the hardworking forward to enjoy this summer resting his body in preparation for another grueling NBA season.

Ilyasova announced on Instagram his decision to skip this year’s EuroBasket, and Hawks.com’s KL Chouinard took the liberty in translating the message.

Ersan Ilyasova is expected to carry a bigger load for the Hawks this season, following the departure of their big guns in Paul Millsap, Dwight Howard, and Tim Hardaway Jr.

In 26 games for the team last year, Ilyasova averaged 10.4 points and 5.8 rebounds in 24 minutes per game.
