The day has come. The seemingly eternal winning streak of the University of Connecticut in women's basketball has been put to rest by Villanova on Wednesday night.

The Wildcats pulled off the monumental upset, 72-69 to snap the Huskies' 169-game conference winnings streak. The last time UConn lost in a Big East contest, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis were still atop the Billboard charts and Barack Obama was still the POTUS. It was in 2013, in case you're wondering.

Villanova beat UConn for the first time since 2004. Or when Usher's “Confession” was still the hottest album.

Lior Garzon scored 19 points to lead Villanova, while Brianna Herlihy chipped in a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds. They won their eighth straight game to improve to 16-6, including 10-3 in the Big East.

UConn mounted a furious comeback in the fourth quarter, cutting the lead to a bucket, 71-69 with less than 10 seconds left in the clock. After Herlihy split his free throws, UConn still had a chance to extend the game into overtime but failed to get a shot up as time expired. So, 169 it is.

UConn only had eight healthy players against Villanova, with coach Geno Auriemma fielding only six of them.

Star guard Paige Bueckers is still sidelined due to a knee injury but she's on track to make her return for UConn.
