After the first set of the second semifinal in the women's draw of the US Open, it appeared an All-American final was in the works. Madison Keys, the 17th-ranked player and third-highest-ranked American woman on tour, cruised through an opening set win over soon-to-be World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka without dropping a game.

A pair of tiebreaker losses later, Keys was packing her bags and waving goodbye to the New York City crowd with her US Open run coming to an end.

After an emotional press conference following the match, Keys took to social media Friday morning to address the heartbreaking loss.

“Gave it my all 💔 This one hurts… but I know deep down there’s a lot to be proud of,” Keys said on X.

Keys was a game away from her second US Open final as she led 5-3 in the second set. She served for the match at 5-4 but was broken by Sabalenka, then lost the set's tiebreak to the two-seed. The third set headed to a deciding tiebreak as well, with Sabalenka emerging victorious 10-5.

With the comeback over Keys, Sabalenka became the third woman in the Open Era to win a Grand Slam semifinal after not winning a game in the first set. She'll take on another American, Coco Gauff, in the US Open final on Saturday.

Though the tournament did not end the way Madison Keys would have hoped, she put on an incredible show for the American fans and continues to be a fan favorite at the US Open.
