It's too early for Halloween, but USC football coach Lincoln Riley is doing his best impression of a ghost. The Trojans head coach missed his weekly radio appearance after the team's back-to-back losses, per reporter Scott Wolf/

Wolf posted that Riley is missing the radio show due to feeling “under the weather.”

Lincoln Riley, USC football are struggling

One can see why the USC football coach might be feeling bad. He told the media following the Trojans' close 34-32 loss to Utah that the game caused a “gut-wrenching” reaction. It was the third time in just two seasons that Lincoln Riley and USC had lost to Utah. That heartbreaking defeat came a week after the team got blown away by Notre Dame in South Bend. USC's remaining schedule includes tough matchups against both Washington and Oregon, who are soaring this season in the Pac-12 conference.

USC plays this week at California, in Berkeley. USC enters the game with a 6-2 record and a chance to get back in the win column. California is struggling through a 3-4 season while also entering the contest having lost two in a row, to Utah and Oregon State. The Trojans are favored to win the game on Saturday.

It goes without saying that USC must win in order to get the season back on track and remain competitive in the Pac-12 championship race. USC is second in the conference standings, half a game behind the Washington Huskies, who are 4-0 in conference play. The Trojans sit at 4-1.

It's possible that Lincoln Riley really is feeling under the weather. Or maybe he's just practicing  going as a ghost for Halloween.
