Jimmy Kimmel dedicated a tribute show for Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant on Monday, filming the show without a studio audience to pay homage to the late NBA superstar:

The outpouring of love for the life of Kobe Bryant has been tremendous since a tragic helicopter crash took away his life along with seven others, including his daughter Gianna, on Sunday morning.

Kimmel opened the 40-minute show with an emotional 5-minute monologue on Bryant's life and how he impacted the lives of people all over the world. He described Kobe Bryant as a hero, not the kind who saved lives like firefighters or doctors did, but as someone who inspired a generation through his hard work and dedication.

Kimmel also shared a personal story of how Bryant would always personally check up on him and his son, Billy, when the latter had open heart surgery. He added that he and the five-time NBA champion had many off-screen conversations together. Kimmel shared how all his conversations always involved his daughters and how he loved being a father to them.

Jimmy Kimmel then proceeded to show all of Mamba's appearances on his show, from the Lakers' special post-championship episodes in 2009 and 2010, to his final interview with the five-time champion in September 2019.

Bryant's passing definitely hit hard, not just among basketball fans, but everyone from all walks of life. The world will continue mourning the loss of the all-time great.

Kobe Bryant left behind a legacy of excellence. As much as we grieve his loss, he would probably want us to move forward and continue living the words he preached.

Let us continue to keep the Bryant family and the families of the rest of the victims in our thoughts and prayers as they go through this unimaginable pain of losing their loved ones.
