The Brooklyn Nets superstar trio of Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and James Harden was whittled down to one on Tuesday against the Phoenix Suns, as Durant and Irving missed the game due to hamstring and lower back injuries, respectively.

That didn’t mean they weren’t on the bench though, and Irving—always an interesting character—showed up in style to the game (via The Wooderboys Podcast).

The 28-year-old Irving channeled his elderly alter ego Uncle Drew by entering the venue brandishing a walking stick, yet somehow making it seem totally fine and rather pedestrian in the grand scheme of things.

Irving is someone who doesn’t particularly care much about what is “normal” or “standard” as his thoughts on the shape of the Earth have been widely disseminated, as well as his burning of sage before a game earlier this season.

Of course, real fans don’t let his more eccentric habits distract from the fact that he is a wonderful philanthropist who purchased a home for the family of George Floyd last year after he was tragically shot and killed by a police officer.

Beyond that, of course, Irving is a six-time All-Star on one of the most entertaining teams in the NBA, and as long as the Nets’ Big Three can stay healthy, they have a great shot at a deep postseason run.

Kyrie Irving is having his best season with 28.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 5.7 assists, and 1.1 steals per game. He’s doing all that scoring on a sky-high 64.7 percent true shooting percentage, the highest of his career.
