Minnesota Vikings cornerback Xavier Rhodes has a lot of respect for his division rival, receiver Davante Adams of the Green Bay Packers. Adams is Green Bay's top receiver while Rhodes is the Vikings' top corner, so these two are used to doing battle in the NFC North.

In a recent interview with Brian Baldinger of NFL Network, Rhodes showed that respect, per Tim Backes of Cheesehead TV.

Speaking about Adams, Rhodes said:

“This guy is unbelievable. I told him after the game, I said, ‘I've seen you a first-time guy to now, a tremendous change. You've improved your game so much.' And I told him, ‘I'm proud of you bro, I love going against you.' I know going into the game, I've got to get myself together. I know I'm going to have to call my mom and tell her, ‘don't call my phone! I don't want to talk to anybody! I'm laser-focused.' I'm not trying to miss a second of anything. I want to know if he put his right toe up when he's moving his right foot, and I want to know what route is that.”

Off the field they might show each other love, but it's going to be a battle when they step on it. Both the Vikings and Packers had disappointing seasons last year, and it's going to be intense when the two longtime rivals meet in 2019.

The Packers are looking to bounce back from all the drama that's engulfed them this offseason, while the Vikings are looking to take a leap in the second year of the Kirk Cousins era. Adams had a breakout season last year and made the Pro Bowl, while Rhodes wasn't quite himself as he played through multiple injuries.
