Golden State Warriors forward Andre Iguodala defended his take recently on his claim that Kyrie Irving is one of the 20 greatest NBA players of all time.

Back on October 20th, Iguodala took to Twitter to post his thoughts on Kyrie after he was left off the NBA's list among the 75 greatest players. Iguodala claimed Kyrie Irving was a top 20 player all-time.

The Warriors forward defended that bold take to Sam Amick of the Athletic.  During the interview, Iguodala made some very strong assertions. As noted by Amick in his article:

“Iguodala fired back while standing near the Warriors’ Chase Center practice floor in San Francisco recently. “Name 20 guys better than him. I’ll wait. I’ve got time.”

Curry was one of the three current players given a vote, joining Giannis Antetokounmpo and Chris Paul, but there was no invite for his Warriors teammate who has likely played with or against more of the legends than anyone else in today’s game. “They didn’t want me,” Iguodala said with a grin. “I’m too radical. … I don’t have a big enough name.”

Not only does Iguodala think Irving is a top 20 player all-time, but he narrows it down even more than that.

It initially sounds a little crazy, to think that Kyrie Irving could be rated that high. But who are we to judge? Iguodala has played more basketball against elite athletes than most ever will. As a member of the Golden State Warriors, he has played against Irving in an NBA Finals. He knows what the man is capable of more than the rest of us.

No one has ever doubted Kyrie Irving's talent. It has always been issues off the court that has kept Irving from being perceived as one of the greats. The current situation surrounding Irving might just be why so many people are shocked by this take from Iguodala.
