On Monday night, the Golden State Warriors blew out the Orlando Magic. It was a game that the Dubs were in control of from start to finish. That meant minutes for rookies Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody, who got called up from the G-League for this game.
Once Kuminga entered the contest, he wasted no time making his mark.
Kuminga had nine points and three rebounds in 12 minutes of play. He also showed off his athletic ability with two high-flying dunks. His performance led to Andrew Wiggins giving the youngster some high praise.
“He's a special kid. God-gifted talent. God-gifted athlete. He's learning from the best (in) Steph, Draymond (Green). The environment is important, and you can't take that for granted,” Wiggins told ClutchPoints.
Wiggins was the No. 1 pick in the 2014 NBA draft. He was selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers but got trade to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Kevin Love before the season started. He won rookie of the year but didn't win many games during his stint in Minnesota.

“He (Kuminga) could have been somewhere else and maybe playing a lot, maybe not winning how we’re winning here…The culture here, you can't find that anywhere else. What he's learning now is going to help mold him for his future, his whole NBA career, it's special,” Wiggins added.
Tuesday, Kuminga was sent back to the G League affiliate Santa Cruz Warriors. It isn't a demotion for the No. 7 pick in the 2021 draft. It's just a way to let him play extended minutes to develop him quicker than if he comes off the bench nightly.
If the Warriors plan works the way it did with Jordan Poole, then great things are coming to Kuminga and Moody. The Warriors' G-League team might be shaping the future of Golden State's next big star.
