Golden State Warriors president of basketball operations Bob Myers had a few words for his players prior to the NBA going on hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Myers and the Warriors actually shut their facilities down before the NBA announced all practice facilities were closed.

Via Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN:

Asked what his message was to players on their way into this hiatus, Myers told ESPN: “Follow the rules. Be a person. Be a civilian. Be a member of the community. Take care of your families. Prioritize that. We will get to basketball later.”

The NBA suspended the season indefinitely after Utah Jazz All-Star center Rudy Gobert tested positive for coronavirus. That was followed by positive tests from Jazz star shooting guard Donovan Mitchell, Detroit Pistons forward Christian Wood, former Warriors star and current Brooklyn Nets forward Kevin Durant and Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart.

The Warriors were concerned that superstar point guard Stephen Curry had contracted the virus since he was sick a few weekends ago. However, the two-time MVP only had the flu.

The Warriors had the worst record in the NBA prior to play being suspended. This comes after the Dubs went to the NBA Finals five straight seasons. Golden State won three titles in five years, but this season was a disaster from start to finish.

Hopefully, the 2019-20 season resumes in the summer.
