To say that Jerry West played a pivotal role in building the Golden State Warriors dynasty would be a complete understatement. So much so, that Warriors team president and general manager Bob Myers expressed how he might just give West — now with the Los Angeles Clippers — a call prior to draft night.

Myers had nothing but good things to say about West, and admitted that his presence has been missed in the Warriors organization:

“He gave me conviction,” Warriors head man Myers told NBC Sports Bay Area this week. “Not many people second-guess him in life, because he's been so successful. So, you just miss having him around. Maybe I'll call him and see what he thinks of this (draft), just out of curiosity.”

West initially joined Golden State in 2011, where he served as an executive board member. The Hall of Famer is widely credited for being a significant figure within the organization as they built a team that won three championships in four years.

West parted ways with the Dubs in 2017, as he took on a similar role on the Clippers board.

Golden State are the owners of the second overall pick in the upcoming draft, and they have in their possession one of the most valuable assets in the offseason. Whether or not they intend to use it or to include it in a potential trade package remains to be seen. As Myers indicated above, West might have some advice for him in this respect.
