James Wiseman's return from a knee injury has been highly-anticipated by Golden State Warriors fans everywhere. The 2020 second-overall pick has missed the entirety of the season due to the injury. With the team lacking some size, his return to the court can only mean good things for them.

On Friday night, the Warriors announced that James Wiseman has been assigned to their G-League affiliate Santa Cruz Warriors. This is a clear indicator that the young center is getting closer and closer to returning to action.

Teams assigning their rehabbing players to the G-League has been a common trend for a few years now. The goal is to allow said players to be able to practice and round back into with pro players without risking injuries. The Warriors did the same with Klay Thompson in the months leading to his return.

Wiseman will likely not play a single minute with the Santa Cruz Warriors. However, practicing with them will help him to gain some semblance of form before his official return. The center has missed nearly a year's worth of competitive action, and this move is hoping to shake off the inevitable rust from him not touching the court.

The Warriors are going to welcome Wiseman's return from injury with open arms. At the moment, they still sit at the second spot in the Western Conference. However, they are severely lacking in size and talent at the center position. Kevon Looney is a great starter, but having a lottery talent like Wiseman is a totally different story.
