The Golden State Warriors are in the midst of trying to lock up their role players. Kevon Looney, Gary Payton II, and Otto Porter Jr. are chief concern for GSW right now. But that leaves Juan Toscano-Anderson as an odd man out with the team scrambling to make their financials work.

The writing seemed to be on the wall for JTA and fellow free agent Chris Chiozza in the past week. According to Warriors insider for The Athletic Anthony Slater, the team did not extend qualifying offers to both men with a return being deemed “unlikely”:

The Warriors are not extending qualifying offers to Juan Toscano-Anderson ($2.1 million) or Chris Chiozza ($1.9 million) before the deadline today, per source. Both JTA and Chiozza are now unrestricted free agents, free to sign elsewhere and unlikely to return to the Warriors.

Juan Toscano-Anderson turned himself into a fan favorite for Dub Nation in the past couple of seasons. He'd always bring energy and effort when getting minutes on the court. His personal backstory is even better and the fact that it culminated in him becoming the first player of Mexican descent to win an NBA championship is just the perfect way to cap off his Warriors career.

If this is the end for JTA's time in the Bay Area, here's to hoping he finds a solid home elsewhere where he can be just as appreciated.
