Golden State Warriors' latest recruit Kelly Oubre Jr. already feels at home in The Bay. The Dubs' new 24-year-old swingman, whom they acquired from the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for a 2021 protected first-round pick last month, is already learning a lot from the team's two superstars Stephen Curry and Draymond Green.
Oubre has worked closely alongside the two-time NBA MVP in his first two weeks in Oakland. It didn't take long for the 6-foot-7 winger to be completely enamored by Curry's larger than life persona, per Monte Poole of NBC Sports.
“He's an amazing person, he's a pro’s pro and he's a genuine leader”.
While Curry's calm sense of leadership is a welcome sight for the Dubs newcomer, Oubre also seems to enjoy Green's more assertive, in-your-face style. the one-time DPOY winner, after all, has a reputation for being one of the most, let's say hard-nosed competitors the league has ever seen. But as far as Oubre is concerned, Green's intimidating traits are invaluable, especially if you play on the same side.

“It’s been pretty great to just connect with him off the court,” Oubre described the 3-time All-Star.
“He’s somebody that you love. There’s nothing that you could really do to not get to know him. He reached out to me and we’ve connected off the court more than on the court (due to COVID-19 protocols) because we can't really work out together. But just to be able to see him work out as well on the court, it's just been . . . it's (reflective of) his character off the court. He’s a very transparent individual, so it's been amazing.”
Kelly Oubre, meanwhile, will enter his 7th season in the league and has already faced the Dubs' previous championship core in recent years. While this year's Golden State team is not as formidable as it once was, Oubre relishes the opportunity to step into the shoes of injured superstar Klay Thompson.
Oubre averaged career-highs across the board for the Phoenix Suns last year. His well-rounded skill set seems tailor-made for head coach Steve Kerr's system. Couple that with playing alongside the likes of Curry and Green, Kelly Oubre Jr. should be in for a career year.
