NBA free agency kicks off on June 30 and Klay Thompson's status is still up in the air. There's been rumors that the Golden State Warriors have not offered him a contract. However, this new report suggests the star shooting guard could reunite with Golden State this offseason.

There has been buzz that Thompson and the Orlando Magic have shown mutual interest. But with that said, reports indicate that there “has been no traction” between the two sides, according to Anthony Slater of The Athletic. Slater also hints at the idea that the offers Klay Thompson receives won't be all that great, which could lead him to reunite with the Warriors.

“There has been no traction between Thompson and the Orlando Magic, according to league sources, despite some initial mutual interest. There is expected to be interest from other cap space teams and some longer-term offers on the table in a market that can always move in unpredictable directions. It's always possible Thompson's best offers may end up smaller in money and shorter in years than many predicted or expected, leading some to presume that'll lead back to an inevitable reunion with the Warriors at a rate both sides are comfortable.”

It'll be interesting to see how it plays out for Klay Thompson. His talents should be welcomed by most teams in the league. But it's not entirely clear what kind of offers he's going to receive until free agency begins. But if the numbers are low enough, then perhaps the Warriors can swoop back in and ensure he remains in Golden State.

Should Klay Thompson re-sign with the Warriors?

This is going to be an interesting free agency period for Klay Thompson. He's a good fit for most teams across the league and the Warriors might be interested in switching things up on the roster. Despite that, there's a chance he will return to Golden State to continue playing alongside Stephen Curry and Draymond Green.

Considering the Warriors haven't been all that competitive these last couple of years, it makes sense for the organization to go a different route. However, if they can get Klay Thompson to agree on a team-friendly deal, then why wouldn't they bring him back?

Especially considering they could maintain the core of the roster while having some money left over to fill out the roster with good depth. That's exactly what the Warriors need if they hope to compete in the playoffs once again.
