Cleveland Cavaliers veteran point guard Ricky Rubio recently spoke with AS NBA and discussed what it's like to have his name still being in trade discussions. During the course of the exchange, Rubio also revealed his desire to play alongside Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson with the Golden State Warriors.

The original AS NBA interview was done in Spanish, but Rubio's response was translated to English by HoopsHype:

“Every trade deadline I’m involved in rumors… not even while injured I’m safe. It’s a little stressful, my family suffers. It’s not nice being in rumors.” Among them, the Golden State Warriors: “It would be nice to play with Curry and Klay Thompson.”

There aren't a lot of pass-first guards who would pass up on the opportunity to play together with elite perimeter weapons in the forms of Curry and Thompson. After he got traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers by the Minnesota Timberwolves last year, it was rumored that Rubio would “negotiate a buyout,” with the Warriors looking to pounce on the opportunity to sign him. But the buyout never materialized and Rubio surprisingly became a hit with the Cavs, who are having quite a season. Unfortunately for Rubio, he suffered a season-ending ACL injury in his left knee back in December.

Rubio is set to become a free agent by the end of the 2021-22 NBA season, and he'll just have to wait and see whether the Warriors or any team would still be interested in signing him up in the offseason.
