Golden State Warriors superstar guard Stephen Curry knows a Cinderella story when he sees one. In honor of this year's NCAA Tournament Cinderella, the University of Maryland, Baltimore County Retrievers received some of his unreleased Under Armour shoes as a present for being the first No. 16 seed in history to take down a No. 1-seeded team, after blowing out the 21-3 Virginia Cavaliers 74-54 on Friday.

Isn't it sweet for Curry to reward a team for beating the Cavaliers? Jokes aside, though, UMBC is part of the Under Armour program (the company is based out of Maryland), making this a natural fit with Curry as the brand's leading spokesman. He sent the shoes and other gear directly to the school, not the players directly, in order to comply with NCAA rules — a very smart move on his part, perfectly preventing any unnecessary drama from his innocent act.

The Retrievers wore the shoes against ninth-seeded Kansas State, but fell short 50-43, ending their incredible run in the big dance. But they've already made enough noise that should still be echoing for many years to come.

The point guard from the defending NBA world champions would know a thing or two about this kind of story, as he led Davidson College to its first Elite Eight appearance in 39 years back in 2008, a place they've yet to reach since.

The Wildcats ran into a buzzsaw in the first round this year, losing to Kentucky 78-73 this tournament, but that hasn't kept Curry from letting his generosity reach out to those who have made history.
