Golden State Warriors veteran Draymond Green thinks he's the best defender to ever play in the association, but former NBA player Tony Allen had some quick criticism of Green's comments.

Green then fired back at Allen's comments in typical Draymond fashion:

Going by resume alone, there are three NBA All-Defensive First Team nods, two NBA All-Defensive Second Team nods, and an NBA Defensive Player of the Year award from 2017 for Draymond Green. It's not a bad resume by any stretch of the imagination.

Now we go to the eye test. This is where Tony Allen brings up a great point. Draymond is a really good defender, but who has he put the clamps on? What games were noticeable where it was evident that Draymond was given a task to lock down “player X” and he did so from start to finish. Green is a better overall team defender, not necessarily a consistent lockdown, 1 vs. 1 shut you down type of guy. But that's not a knock against Green.

Tony Allen was an in-your-face, let's go me vs. you and do the dance because I'm going to put the clamps on you type of defender. Kobe Bryant said on multiple occasions Allen was the toughest defender he ever faced. This isn't meant to be a Tony Allen vs. Draymond Green debate either.

Can I interest you in some Hakeem Olajuwon? Kevin Garnett perhaps? Dennis Rodman, Scottie Pippen, Gary Payton, the list goes on. You could argue Kawhi Leonard is the best defender of this era, not Draymond Green. But, it's all subjective.

It's fun to have the conversations, it's nice of Draymond Green  to have the self-confidence but you better have the receipts and other players you've gone against to vouch for your defense or else guys like Tony Allen will bring it.
