Houston Rockets superstar James Harden suffered an eye injury during Game 2 of their Western Conference semifinals series against the Golden State Warriors. However, the Dubs are reportedly not sold that he's really hurt.
Midway through the first quarter of Tuesday night’s game, Harden was poked in the eye by Draymond Green while going for an offensive rebound. The reigning MVP went down on the floor, writhing in pain.
Harden went to the locker room but eventually came back into the game. It was obvious that he was in pain though, as his eyes were red and he spent most of the game squinting them.
He still finished the game with 29 points on 9-of-19 shooting, six rebounds and four assists, which is the main reason why some Warriors players are downplaying the severity of his injury, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.
“There are some players in that (Warriors) locker room that are not buying the whole James Harden eye being extremely hurt thing. They were talking about some of the shots he was shooting during the game then when he goes to the free throw line and squinting like he can’t see.”
Harden is expected to play in Game 3 of the series on Saturday, which is an indication that the injury might not be that serious.
Harden has already said that he's not going to use his eye injury as an excuse. The Rockets will have the opportunity to even things up as the next two games will be played on their home floor.
