Steve Kerr is already in midseason form in the Golden State Warriors' preseason game against the Phoenix Suns. Kerr, after being ejected, sent out a sarcastic quip before leaving the court.
Kerr immediately walked towards the referee after Stephen Curry received a foul for an illegal screen. Despite being a preseason game, Kerr did not hesitate to protest right in front of the officials.

As for admitting that he doesn't want to be in the game anyway, some fans probably feel the same. Preseason games do give fans a glimpse of their new (and hopefully improved) squad. There's also a question as to whether or not the players give a full hundred percent whenever they play.
The real games happen during the regular season and the playoffs. Maybe Kerr simply wanted to say that he can't wait any longer to dominate the NBA once again.
For what it's worth, Kerr was the subject of many Suns fans' ire last season after his surprising decision to literally hand over the coaching reins to his players in a game. Maybe there's something about the Suns that makes Kerr not want to coach or possibly even other players simply not wanting to be in the team — just ask Eric Bledsoe.
