Washington Football Team head coach Ron Rivera benched quarterback Dwayne Haskins about a month ago. Now, last year's No. 15 overall pick is finding himself in trade rumors with the NFL trade deadline coming in a couple of days.

According to Ian Rapoport at NFL.com, Haskins' benching could have been the telling sign that Washington could be willing to move on from the 23-year-old. However, it will need to be under the right circumstances for Washington to pull the trigger on that kind of deal:

When Washington benched QB Dwayne Haskins, it started the clock on his potential departure from the organization. While the WFT hasn't shopped its former first-round pick, this much is evident: If a team is looking for a high-ceiling QB to develop, Washington would part with him for the right price. As of now, that market has been relatively quiet. While Washington is open to dealing pass-rusher Ryan Anderson, it seems it is intent on keeping Ryan Kerrigan for all he means to the organization.

Haskins started the first four games for Washington before being benched all the way down to third string. Kyle Allen took over as the starting quarterback, with Alex Smith moving into the primary backup role. Haskins was 1-3 in his four starts, and Washington is 1-2 since his benching.

With just over a year under his belt, there's no doubt that Haskins still has a ton of room to grow. Certainly, the potential is there for the former Ohio State standout. Should a team be willing to pay the right price for a high-ceiling quarterback, they should take advantage of his availability on the market.
