The Hornets seem to be way ahead of schedule, especially in terms of their current seeding in the Eastern Conference. They are 20-18 and are sitting at the fifth seed, but they can not get too comfortable because one loss can plummet them down to the eighth spot. However, if they can tighten up their interior defense, they should be able to stay put, or even move up in the East. This is why they should push for a trade to acquire Andre Drummond.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have been shopping their big man since acquiring Jarret Allen from the Nets, who they said will be the starting center moving forward. The Hornets need to act fast to solidify their playoff hopes this season.

Drummond is only 27 years old and is far from done being a productive player in the league. He has been an All-Star twice and has led the league in rebounding four different times. It is safe to say he will be able to replicate that same kind of production with the Hornets.

Charlotte's offense appears to be at its best in transition, which will be a perfect fit for a guy with his skill-set. Running alongside LaMelo Ball, Terry Rozier, and Gordon Hayward, it could be an interesting blend of talent amassed in Charlotte, maybe the best they have had in the past 20 years. Even if they had to give up Rozier in the deal, you still have to pull the trigger on this trade.

It is important to look at the long-term future for the Hornets and what players might fit into it. Rozier has been on fire so far this season, but there is no guarantee that he will be back with the team after his contract runs out, or that he will fit into what management wants to do. Whereas Drummond can be viewed as the center of the future for the next four to five years. It is ideal to try to pair a big man and a guard to be franchise cornerstones and it is possible this could be exactly what the Hornets need going forward. Who knows, as the two from together, they could form into one of the best duos in the league.

To be able to get something of value, you have to be willing to give up something worth it. Unfortunately, that has to be the person of the most value, which would be Rozier on this current Hornets squad. The type of production that Drummond would provide for this team might not pan out immediately, but it has a good chance to work in the long run.

There is a ton of scenarios that might work in their favor, but if there is an opportunity to get Drummond, who is about to enter his prime, you have to give it your best shot.
