Ever since Respawn Entertainment released Apex Legends in February of 2019, the game has taken the world by storm. And it seems like the First-Person shooter is about to be adapted into a Netflix show in the near future.

In an AMA last May, a fan asked Respawn Entertainment's Director of Communications Ryan Rigney on Reddit whether the show was bound to happen. All he had to say was… nothing. He didn't deny nor confirm that there is a show in the works. Only an emoji was given. An emoji with his mouth zipped tight.

The answer was pretty vague and it made fans speculate even more.

For now, that's all we get from Respawn.

So here's why the Apex Legends Netflix show needs to happen

Apex Legends, much like the game it originated from (Titanfall), has a plethora of interesting characters and locations. To not dive further into these characters' lore and background would simply be wrong. And although the game has been releasing “Stories from the Outlands”, true fans of the game can't wait to see these shorts in full length.

The ‘”Stories from the Outlands” astonished fans of Apex Legends due to the short's unique art style and storytelling.

Netflix could simply use the formula Respawn has been using in these shorts as they have proven to be a success amongst fans. Or they could also go with the “Love, Death, and Robots” route with every episode having a different art style as well as a different story and protagonist for each one.

Who gets to play hero?

If someone were to ask me, I'd say Eliott Witt a.k.a. Mirage should be the main character for the show. He's the goofiest and most loveable character in Apex Legends (No offense to Pathfinder fans).

It would be interesting to see what Netflix could do with the character as he gives off “Star-Lord” vibes which I'm sure fans of both the game and sci-fi lovers would want to see in action.

Although all of the characters are great and would make good protagonists, something about our Holographic Trickster tells me he'll be the star of the show. I mean, he pretty much already is.

If you've played the game, there's no doubt that you've encountered his hilarious quips and scenes where he just steals the show. The guy even has a darned ship named after him.

Netflix has never been shy about adapting video games into shows or films. If anything, they've actually proven more than capable of doing so with the success of Castlevania and the recent DOTA: Dragon's Blood. The company has even more ongoing projects under its belt with big names like Assasin's Creed and Cyberpunk 2077.

With that said, I think it's pretty safe to say that should the project pushes through, the game would be in safe hands.
