The NBA can be a harsh place, as quality players enter and exit the league with regularity. One of the most notable players unable to find a role after impressive play is Isaiah Thomas. The veteran point guard has floated around the league for the past several years, featuring for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Los Angeles Lakers, Denver Nuggets and Washington Wizards since 2017.

This year, Thomas has finally been signed after watching the season from home. The New Orleans Pelicans called his number to provide some backup point guard minutes. The move to Pels prompted a supportive tweet from his former teammate in DC, Bradley Beal.

Isaiah Thomasā€™ time together with Beal in the nationā€™s capital was spent as a replacement for the injured John Wall, allowing the former University of Washington guard to record 12.2 points in 23.1 minutes a night for the Wizards.

His most prolific season came in Boston during the 2016-17 campaign, when he averaged a whopping 28.9 points per game en route to an All-Star appearance and a deep playoff run.

Now that Thomas is 31 years old, he is expected to carry much less of an offensive role. His debut for the Pelicans showed great promise of what his year could look like, as he dropped 10 points in 19 minutes for his new squad.

Thomas boasts impressive career averages of 18.1 points and 4.9 assists per game, including two all star appearances during his time in Boston. Although the backup point guard likely wonā€™t reach the heights of former seasons, he is sure to make a positive impact in his new role alongside young stars like Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram.

Fortunately for IT, he has a ton of support from his peers and his former Wizards teammate in Bradley Beal.
