The Washington Wizards boast of having one of the best backcourts in the league in John Wall and Bradley Beal. And while the Wizards made the playoffs four times during a five-year span, the star-studded backcourt created problems as well.

Chemistry issues ran rampant within the Wizards rumor mill, and speculations that Beal and Wall may not like each other began to swirl. Wall was already a star in the league a few years before Beal entered the picture, but the talented shooting guard was coming into his own and questions about who would be the team's “alpha” arose.

In an interview with Marc Spears of The Undefeated, Beal spoke on that pivotal time in his career when things were hashed out with Wall.

And now here comes the media doing this, ‘Well, who’s the man?’ And for a minute it was kind of, hell, we both felt like we were the man. We weren’t talking about it. But everybody was like, ‘Well, I think Brad feels like the man,’ or ‘I think John might feel like the man.'And so, it actually came to a point where we talked about it. And it was like, ‘I don’t feel like that.’ ‘Well, s—, I don’t feel like that either.’ And it was like, ‘Well, why are we giving that energy because it’s just really affecting us, it’s affecting our locker room.’ And it shouldn’t. Especially when there’s no problems here,” Beal said

With Wall plagued with injuries in recent seasons, Beal has become the clear top guy in Washington. This season, he is averaging a career-high 30.5 points, 6.1 assists, and 4,3 rebounds per game on a struggling Wizards team.

Washington has shown some semblance of a fight at certain stretches this season, giving its fans more reason to be optimistic for 2020-21 when Wall and Beal finally share the court together again.
