The Washington Wizards and the New York Knicks engaged in an Eastern Conference battle on Wednesday's Valentine's Day special. The Wizards ended up coming away with a 118-113 win over the Knicks without their star point guard, John Wall.

Fortunately for Washington, Bradley Beal stepped up and led the Wizards to a close victory, registering 36 points, seven assists, and five rebounds in the win. With his team down by double digits in the second half, Beal took over the scoring load and carried the Wizards to the finish line, which is something that he has done often for his team.

The Knicks had their long-awaited explosive performance from Tim Hardaway Jr., who scored 37 points – 32 in the first half alone. However, Beal made it his assignment to defend Hardaway Jr. after his explosive first half.

Apparently, Beal felt like he did his job, expressing that he told the Knicks shooting guard that he would shut him down after the first half.

The Wizards ended up winning the game thanks to a monstrous effort by Beal, who shot a scorching 63 percent on the night. Hardaway Jr. was also impressive but was defended by a motivated Beal during the game's closing minutes.

With this win, the Wizards are now fourth place in the Eastern Conference. Without Wall, the Wizards haven't skipped a beat, winning seven out of their last ten games. Wall is currently recovering from knee surgery and will likely be back when the postseason begins.

Hopefully, the Wizards will hold their positioning until they can return to full strength when Wall comes back in a few months.
