Dwight Howard is determined to find NBA longevity like Dirk Nowitzki and Vince Carter have managed to do throughout their careers, looking to play for another eight seasons, until he turns 40.

To do so, he's not only trimmed down to a chiseled 265-pound frame, but also cut down to a eye-popping 3.3 percent body fat — but that is only the beginning.

The 14-year veteran is also looking to expand his game into that of a modern big man, with a skill set similar to some of the best to ever do it, according to Candace Buckner of The Washington Post.

“He wants to evolve into [New Orleans Pelicans big man] Anthony Davis, into [Golden State Warriors star forward] Kevin Durant, but his own version of that,” said his trainer Justin Zormelo.

Howard already showed some signs of expanding his game last season by taking a few mid-range shots with the Charlotte Hornets, which resulted in one of his most productive seasons in recent memory. He put up an impressive 16.6 points and 12.5 rebounds per game, while making one of his seven 3-point attempts.

The 6-foot-11 center also made improvements at the foul line, shooting a respectable 57.7 percent — his best mark since the 2010-11 season with the Orlando Magic, when he shot 59.6 percent from the charity stripe.

If this is indeed the rebirth of the Dwight Howard we've come to know for the past few years, it bodes a scary proposition for the league, as he already has superior physical tools to bang with any center in today's league. Still, Howard has a lot to prove after bouncing around the league the past few seasons.
