In an official statement that was released on Tuesday morning, Washington Wizards general manager Tommy Sheppard announced that the team has hired former Clippers executive Johnny Rogers to serve the newly-created role of Vice President of Pro Personnel.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski was first to report the news of Rogers' hiring in Washington:

As Wojnarowski noted in his report, Rogers has built a strong reputation in the scouting world — a fact that the Wizards likely took note of when considering him for this new job. During his stint with the Clippers, Rogers served as the director of pro player personnel, and now he'll bring that experience to Washington.

The hiring of Rogers to this newly created role is just the latest move in what has been a major offseason shakeup for the Wizards' front office. The team dismissed longtime GM Ernie Grunfeld after the season, and earlier in July removed the interim tag from Sheppard's title after making a highly-publicized run at Denver Nuggets president Tim Connelly for the job.

The Wizards finished the 2018-19 regular season with a 32-50 overall record, which left the team out of the playoff hunt. In the coming season, however, Washington will look to get back into postseason contention.
