The Washington Wizards have agreed with guard Ish Smith on a two-year, $12 million contract, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Smith spent the 2018-19 campaign with the Detroit Pistons, playing in 56 games and averaging 8.9 points, 3.6 assists and 2.6 rebounds over 22.3 minutes per game while shooting 41.9 percent from the floor, 32.6 percent from 3-point range and 75.8 percent from the free-throw line.

The 30-year-old journeyman played his collegiate basketball at Wake Forest and went undrafted, but ended up seeing his first NBA action with the Houston Rockets back during the 2010-11 season. He split that year between the Rockets and Memphis Grizzlies, appearing in 43 contests and registering 2.3 points a night.

The Wizards will represent Smith's 11th NBA team. His longest stint came with the Pistons, where he played a full three seasons. His best year in Detroit came during the 2017-18 campaign, when he participated in all 82 games and recorded 10.9 points, 4.4 assists and 2.7 boards through 24.9 minutes per game while making 48.6 percent of his field-goal attempts, 34.7 percent of his long-distance tries and 69.8 percent of his foul shots.

Smith first began seeing significant playing time in 2014-15 when he was a member of the Philadelphia 76ers, as he played in 25 games with the team that season and averaged 29.1 minutes a night, nearly double any minutes output he had posted previously.

Known for his blinding speed, Smith owns career averages of 7.4 points, 3.8 assists and 2.4 rebounds over 19.4 minutes per game while connecting on 42.7 percent of his shots, 30.6 percent of his triples and 67.8 percent of his free throws.

Washington won just 32 games this past season. John Wall is set to miss most of next season, if not all of it, and Tomas Satoransky is heading to the Chicago Bulls, so Smith will have a big opportunity.
