Finishing a college degree is at the top of many people's to-do list across the world, including Washington Wizards All-Star point guard John Wall. According to Candace Buckner of The Washington Post, Wall plans to finish his business degree at the University of Kentucky this summer in order to keep a promise he made to his father.

For many who don't know, Wall's father passed away at the age of 52 due to liver cancer when Wall was only eight years old.

“I’m going back to school this summer to get my business degree,” Wall revealed. “That’s what I’m focusing on. I promised my dad that.”

The 27-year-old Wall, who was selected No. 1 overall in the 2010 NBA Draft by the Wizards, chose to forgo his final three years at Kentucky and was only able to complete his freshman year of classes.

Wall says that he is looking into his future past basketball and is eager to make an impact on society once his playing career is over.

“When our career is over, when we retire and the basketball stops bouncing, we still have the find something else to do,” Wall said. “Whether you want to be a general manager, a doctor, a businessman, whatever, you have to believe on everything you stand on. We’re more than athletes and the stuff that’s going on in our society and in this world, we have to speak on it. I think we have the right to say whatever we want.”

That's a great attitude for him to have and it shows a lot about Wall's character that he plans to finish college in order to keep a promise to his late father, John Carroll Wall, Sr.

In 37 starts this season with the Wizards, Wall is currently averaging 19.4 points on 41.7 percent shooting from the field, 9.3 assists, 3.6 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 1.1 blocked shots per game.

Wall is in his eighth season in the NBA, and after a career-year in 2016-17 with averages of 23.1 points, 7.2 rebounds, 10.7 assists, and 2.0 steals per game, Wall has struggled to stay healthy, missing 20 (and counting) of the Wizards' 57 games so far this season.
