Otto Porter Jr. has a message for John Wall and Bradley Beal after the two criticized their Washington Wizards teammates: “we gotta be our own backbone.”

Wall and Beal took a shot at the Wizards after losing to the Sacramento Kings and dropping to 1-4 in the standings. The two unquestionable leaders of the Washington squad said their teammates have their “own agendas” and even called them out to play hard and stop complaining about shots.

Otto Porter Jr., however, reacted to the criticisms of Wall and Beal and pointed they should be supporting each other instead of fighting and showing their frustration to the media.

“I can’t say that. But you gotta play together,” Porter told Fred Katz of The Athletic. “We can’t have our heads down. … So we gotta figure, hey, we gotta play for each other. Nobody’s cheering for us. We gotta be our own backbone. We gotta carry each other. We’re not gonna get it from the media. We’re not gonna get it from the opposite fans, the opposite team.”

Porter is definitely one of those afflicted by the veiled shots of Wall and Beal. He shot 2-for-6 from the field in their loss to the Kings, and his field goal attempts per game average has dropped to 9.4 from 11.5 in the 2017-18 season.

Furthermore, in a recent report, Wizards head coach Scott Brooks said that the 25-year-old forward “can't worry about” his shots.

Nonetheless, Porter has a point in his response to the two. After all, issues like that should be addressed in the locker room and by all the people involved, not through the media.

It remains to be seen how this issue will affect the Wizards' overall play. They need to get out of their slump soon, and criticizing each other certainly isn't the way out of that.
