Bradley Beal has been making headlines as of late with a series of shooting streaks, which many would attribute to motivation acquired from the All-Star snub. In fact, when asked about how much it fired him up, Wizards head coach Scott Brooks merely smiled and said, “Can you imagine if he was an All-Star?”

The 6-foot-3 guard has been nothing but miraculous after the All-Star weekend, averaging 36.2 points in the month of February. Since then, he’s paved his way into numerous Wizards and league records.

In fact, his performance on Sunday night against the Golden State Warriors earned him another Wizards record with 18 straight 25-plus point games. Prior to this game, the seven-year veteran had a flurry of 40-point games, as well as back-to-back 50-point performances.

The former No. 3 overall pick is clearly the emerging leader for Washington in light of star point guard John Wall’s continued absence. However, the team currently has a subpar record at 22-37, although they surprisingly sit at the ninth spot in the top-heavy East. The team is currently behind the eight-seeded Nets, trailing only by four games.

Despite the lack of team success, however, Beal is averaging 30.3 points, second in the league behind only James Harden, as well as 6.0 assists per game. Both are career-highs. It’s thus a wonder to many why the two-time All-Star didn’t get his third straight selection.

Beal still has a chance to prove wrong those who dismissed him. With a much-needed win, he only needs to maintain his offensive momentum and continue to lead his team. Who knows, they just might steal the last playoff spot from Brooklyn.
