The Washington Wizards have gotten off to an excellent, 10-3 start, the best record in the Eastern Conference, this season. Paramount to their success is star Bradley Beal, who has evolved into one of the elite shooting guards in the NBA out of the shadow of former Wizard John Wall.

Beal has sometimes expressed frustration with the Wizards' losing ways in recent years, but has repeatedly expressed a desire to remain in Washington. The Wizards' recent front office announcement should give Bradley Beal even more reason to stay in a Wizards uniform.

Success as seemingly found the Wizards since Tommy Sheppard and Sashi Brown entered their front office. Under the leadership of Sheppard and Brown, the franchise somehow got out from under the albatross of John Wall's contract in exchange for superstar Russell Westbrook, who helped propel the team to their first playoff berth since the 2018 season.

Sheppard essentially proceeded to flip Westbrook to the Lakers in a five-team deal, bringing back pieces that have been to the 2021-22 rotation, such as Spencer Dinwiddie, Kyle Kuzma, Montrezl Harrell and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. That's a pretty impressive turnaround in just two years, especially for the NBA.

So while the Wizards have yet to find a suitable sidekick to Bradley Beal, odds are they will eventually with Sheppard and Brown set to remain fully invested in the franchise for the foreseeable future, news that should make a contract extension in Washington even more palatable for Beal.
