The Washington Wizards are once again entering an offseason following a middling season. Although Bradley Beal is still staying loyal to the team, they have to repay his loyalty with a strong roster. General manager Tommy Sheppard has the 10th overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft to help with that goal.

Washington's recent history of draft picks is not great but also not terrible, as they have found a few players that have been able to contribute right away but not at an exciting level. That has to change this year. The Wizards have to find a future star to build around.

The 10th overall pick should give the Wizards plenty of intriguing prospects to pick from. However, they may look to find a star-level player in a different way. According to NBA reporter Marc Stein, they are one of the three teams with top-10 picks willing to trade out of them.

Both Sacramento and Portland are widely expected to give serious consideration to trading the No. 4 and No. 7 overall picks, respectively, if they can concoct appealing win-now swaps. And now I’m told Washington is another top-10 team (drafting 10th overall) said to be weighing the same possibility.

Washington could find a high-level player in a trade or perhaps take advantage of the Sacramento Kings and Portland Trail Blazers looking to trade back. They could package Kristaps Porzingis' contract along with their pick to find an All-Star or do the same with Kyle Kuzma or Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. However they look to do it, they have to get back into playoff contention next season and make the most of their NBA Draft pick.
