The Seattle Storm just secured the WNBA title after defeating the Las Vegas Aces in Game 3 of the WNBA Finals. There were more than a few folks that tuned in to the highly-anticipated matchup, including a couple of NBA personalities in Dwyane Wade and Ja Morant.
Wade sent out his congratulatory message to the Storm via Twitter, as Seattle beat Las Vegas in a lopsided contest, 92-59:
For his part, Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant was cheering on the Aces, and he is confident that Las Vegas will be back with a vengeance next season:
Morant did acknowledge, however, that the Storm have a very good, championship-caliber team:
By winning Game 3 on Monday, Seattle completed a clean sweep of the Aces, 3-0. Storm forward Breanna Stewart had herself quite a ballgame, finishing with a game-high 26 points on a very efficient 10-of-14 shooting, to go along with four rebounds, a steal, and zero turnovers in just 25 minutes of action. Stewart also knocked down three out of her four three-point attempts on the evening. The 26-year-old was awarded the Finals MVP title after the contest, which is the second time she's lifted the trophy.
Jewell Loyd also chipped in with 19 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists, and dedicated the win to Kobe Bryant, daughter Gigi, and Breonna Taylor.
The Storm was dominant throughout the series and seemed unstoppable at times. This is the fourth championship in franchise history.
Congratulations also need to be sent out to the folks behind the scenes, for their hard work in ensuring that the season was able to carry on in spite of the pandemic. The WNBA bubble was a smashing success.
