New York Yankees executive Brian Cashman has revealed that he has been in contact with two free-agent shortstop agents.
They are rumored to be interested in Houston Astros Carlos Correa, and Los Angeles Dodgers Corey Seager.
The Yankees had another disappointing year that led to an early exit in the playoffs. Throughout the season, there was an obvious need for the shortstop position. The Yankees were changing shortstops in what seemed like every game.
Adding Correa or Seager will definitely help the Yankees but it won't solve all their problems. They still need to address some rotation and bullpen needs.
Bringing Correa in would be interesting. The Yankees fan base has had a severe hatred for him ever since the Houston Astros cheating scandal came to light. New York has always been the bad guys but if Correa can come in and hit 30-plus home runs while playing Gold Glove level defense, there probably won't be much noise from Yankee fans about him cheating.
Seager would be an interesting pick-up. He's an incredibly talented ballplayer, but he has spent some time on the injury list. The Yankees unfortunately have dealt with some injuries in many of the past few seasons and adding another player who is injury-prone might not be the best for them.
The Yankees have not played like they should the past few seasons. Brian Cashman and the rest of the front office will look to make some big moves this offseason.
