Overcoming a 3-0 deficit against a team like the Golden State Warriors is almost impossible, but the Dallas Mavericks took one step closer to doing so on Tuesday as they pulled out a much-needed Game 4 victory. Now, the Mavs head back to the Bay Area looking to keep the series alive and force a Game 6 back in Texas.

There were a lot of positive takeaways for Jason Kidd's squad in this contest and because of it, the Mavs will have some belief the unthinkable can be done in the West Finals.

2 reasons Mavs have glimmer of hope after Game 4 win

The shooters showed up…finally

The Mavs have lived and died by the triple throughout these entire playoffs. That's basically how they beat the Utah Jazz who couldn't defend the perimeter to save their lives. The Phoenix Suns, the best team in the NBA during the regular season, couldn't stop the three-point frenzy, either. But, the problem with relying so heavily on threes is that when they go cold, it's essentially game over.

For example in Game 3, Dallas shot just 29% from deep. The likes of Dorian Finney-Smith, Reggie Bullock, and Maxi Kleber struggled. The Mavs came out with whole different energy on Tuesday though and were hitting shots from the get-go, draining 46% of their treys. All the different weapons were getting in on the action, too. Bullock went 6 for 10, Finney-Smith 4 for 7, and Dinwiddie and Kleber drained a couple each. Open looks and contested threes were hitting net consistently.

Dallas did shoot well in Game 2 but they were overmatched in other areas, especially interior scoring. However, if the Mavs can continue to be efficient from beyond the arc, this series could go longer than expected. It's been their Achilles' heel for a reason.

Contributions from more than Luka and Brunson

One of the problems for Dallas in the Dubs series is Luka Doncic and Jalen Brunson are being left to do all the work offensively. Yes, Doncic is the franchise star, but there is not a chance the Mavs can win another game in the West Finals without the supporting cast stepping up. That's exactly what happened in Game 4 and we saw the outcome. Four of the five starters finished in double-figures, with Luka's 30 points leading the way. Bullock scored all of his 18 from downtown while Finney-Smith really thrived with 23 points of his own.

Shooting is undoubtedly crucial to the Mavs' success. While they did manage to sink 20 triples, a lot of their damage came inside, too. Dallas just looked a lot more aggressive and played with fantastic heart and spirit. Going back to California and trying to secure another win in an electric atmosphere will be tough. That being said, if the whole rotation can show up again and the three-pointers are landing, there is a chance.

Also, the Mavs actually outrebounded the Warriors for once in Game 4. One of the biggest storylines in the series has been Golden State's dominance of Dallas on the boards and they flipped the script on Tuesday. Between the shooting, timely contributions, and physicality on the glass, Dallas isn't done yet. But if they don't come out with fire from the tip-off on Thursday, it's going to be all over.
