For Juventus' standard, last season was a total failure. They finished 4th in Serie A after winning 9 straight years and got knocked out by FC Porto ( an underdog) in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16.  The only trophy Juventus won was the Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana (yay for Andrea Pirlo's trophyless season). The once-feared Old Lady of Turin was nowhere to be found. The display they put on the field was very disappointing, particularly controlling the midfield, and defending counter-attacks.

Hiring club legend Andrea Pirlo was certainly a mistake by Agnelli and Co. since Pirlo has not coached a team at any level. Pirlo did not make the right decisions may it be the rotation of the players, finding the right fit and position. Tactics-wise, the idea was there but he failed to implement it and failed to use his players to the best of their abilities.

Injuries were also a part of the obstacle that Juventus faced last season, particularly to star talisman Paulo Dybala, who is and could have been a crucial piece for Pirlo's squad.

Another problem is that the management did not supply the attackers with the right pieces. Gone were the days of Cristiano Ronaldo beating opponents from the wing. The Portuguese nowadays play somewhat a role of a poacher and needs someone who can make the right pass and decision. They badly need a creative playmaker in the middle of the pitch. He needs all the support he can get from his teammates because father time is undefeated, Ronaldo, even though a freak of nature, is already 36 and it is unfair to say that he cannot do what he could years ago.

This summer transfer window will be a crucial one for the team. They must make marquee signings for them to compete against the likes of Inter Milan, AC Milan, and Atalanta. Here are 2 ideal transfer targets for Juventus that they need to go all-in for:

2. Houssem Aouar, CM

Aouar has been a target for Juventus since last season but ultimately chose Federico Chiesa over the midfielder, which certainly was not a mistake since Chiesa has been spectacular (actually one of the bright sides of Juve's lost season) for Juve and Italy. Why not go back for the unfinished business of acquiring Aouar? He suits the squad well as he was an attacking and a creative genius for Lyon last season. He is a technically gifted player who can dribble past opponents at ease. Aouar is the one that can make killer through balls for Ronaldo to make a run and pounce.

1. Manuel Locatelli, DM

A player who is composed, can defend, make killer passes, control the pitch, dribble through tight spaces. Locatelli has it all, plus he is YOUNG, he is the future of the Italian midfield and showcased his skills and potential during the Euros. the Italian showed brilliance on the field, completing 85% of his passes and scoring two goals. Locatelli immediately became a fan favorite with one impressive performance after another. This is the type of player that the Bianconeri needs. There have been rumors and reports that Juve is very close to signing the young Italian and hopefully, they pull the trigger as this will be a solid investment for the Cristiano Era of Juve and the future as well.
