The NBA as a league, an organization does a lot of charitable events off the court. With the NBA Cares organization and various other programs, through basketball, the NBA is trying to help. One of those organizations that promotes good things through basketball is Basketball Without Borders.

Made to promote the game around the world, it has done a lot in its 15-year history. One of its biggest achievements, however, is the NBA Africa game. Held for the first time in 2015, it boasted superstar names such as Chris Paul, brothers Pau and Marc Gasol, Giannis Antetokounmpo, etc.

Two years later, the second game’s rosters have just been announced. Playing for Team Africa are: Emmanuel Mudiay, Dennis Schroder, Victor Oladipo, Luol Deng, Thabo Sefolosha, Luc Mbah A Moute, Gorgui Dieng, Serge Ibaka, Bismack Biyombo, Clint Capela, Joel Embiid and Salah Mejri.

On the other hand, Team World will be represented by: Kyle Lowry, Kemba Walker, Leandro Barbosa, Courtney Lee, CJ McCollum, Jaylen Brown, Wilson Chandler, Dirk Nowitzki, Kristaps Porzingis, DeMarcus Cousins and Andre Drummond.

The captains for the teams will be Dirk Nowitzki and Kemba Walker for Team World, and Luol Deng and Thabo Sefolosha for Team Africa.

The first game was held in 2015 in Johannesburg, South Africa. Team World, led by Chris Paul, won the game, 101-97. What is interesting about that game, is that two NBA legends took to the court. Dikembe Mutombo and Hakeem Olajuwon played some minutes for Team Africa, but could not help much.

This year’s edition will also be held in Johannesburg, on August 5.
