Surprisingly, the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday decided to waive big man DeMarcus Cousins before the deadline for veteran player contracts to be guaranteed for the season. The extremely penny-pinching move comes after Cousins had a mildly successful 17-game stint, showing he still can contribute to a contender.

In his last game for the Bucks, he had 15 points, 10 rebounds, three steals, and one block. Those numbers could surely be used by a few teams around the NBA, so Cousins shouldn't be out of work for very long.

Here are the top three potential destinations for Boogie once he has officially been waived by the Bucks.

DeMarcus Cousins top three destinations

3. Dallas Mavericks

The Mavericks have one of the thinnest frontcourts in the entire NBA. Kristaps Porzingis and Boban Marjanovic are currently in health and safety protocols and Maxi Kleber and Dwight Powell are undersized at the four and the five, respectively. Cousins could instantly step into big minutes on this team that is making its way up the Western Conference standings.

The only issue for the Mavericks would be that Cousins is more of an offensive threat than a defensive threat, just like Porzingis and Luka Doncic, the team's best two players. That might create a team that cannot get the stops needed down the stretch.

2. Miami Heat

The Heat are currently without Bam Adebayo, who had thumb surgery in December. But even with Adebayo, they are lacking in the frontcourt in a big way. PJ Tucker has been asked to once again play big minutes down low, something he never did before he joined the Bucks and won a championship last season. The Heat have also leaned on the young and talented big man Omer Yurtseven.

Yurtseven's rebounding prowess has made him into a player the Heat have to keep giving minutes to regardless of who they bring in. If he is going to be playing big minutes as a 23-year-old, then having a veteran like Cousins to lean on for advice can be valuable. Cousins is also known for his short temper, something that could get him in trouble with Heat star Jimmy Butler, but they could also easily feed off of each other's energies to become their best selves on the court.

1. Golden State Warriors

This one is just too easy as Cousins is a former Warrior who has had nothing but good things to say about the organization and vice versa. Cousins battled back from a torn quad in February 2019 to make it back in time for the 2019 NBA Finals. The Warriors would ultimately lose to the Toronto Raptors. Cousins is still in search of his first championship after a few stops chasing a ring with the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers. If he is going to get a title this season, he should probably call up Steve Kerr and the Warriors and see if they could use an extra body until they eventually get James Wiseman back from injury.

While Cousins could surprise us all and sign with another NBA team, these are the three most likely destinations for the big man who was once considered one of the best in the NBA before multiple injuries derailed his career. Even though he is not the same player anymore that he once was, he can definitely help a team this season.
