The Philadelphia 76ers will have a busy offseason as they try to make key tweaks to their roster. Addressing the Ben Simmons issue is without a doubt at the very top of their priority list. Analysts are in agreement that the Sixers need to get rid of the Australian through a trade. Whatever the team decides to do with Simmons is a matter of wait-and-see. Outside of that issue, it's clear that the Sixers need some offense to support Joel Embiid. Fortunately for them, there are several prospects in the late first-round who can fill this role.

Here are the three best options for the Sixers at No. 28 in the 2021 NBA Draft.

Max Abmas (Guard)

This late in the first round, the 5-foot-11 Oral Roberts standout is probably the most potent scorer — something the Sixers clearly need. He led the nation in scoring as a sophomore, averaging 24.6 points per game on 47.7 percent shooting from the field. He seems to have the complete package on offense. He can create for himself thru quick drives to the hoop or from the 3-point line (43.3 percent). He's also showed off his capacity to orchestrate the pick-and-roll, something imperative if you're teammates with Joel Embiid.

Obviously, there are questions about his height and how he could be a defensive liability. He did average 1.5 steals per game last season which shows his good hands and high activity on defense. Besides, the Sixers are a pretty good defensive team with Matisse Thybulle and Ben Simmons (if they keep him) in the fold. Doc Rivers is capable of making the right adjustments to prevent offenses from abusing Abmas' height.

Isaiah Todd (Center)

The 6-foot-10 power forward Isaiah Todd spent last season with the NBA G League Ignite which already gives him an advantage over most prospects. He had a relatively slow start but ended up with decent averages of 12.3 points and 4.9 rebounds last season. That relatively low rebound output given his height is not an indication of his underperformance. Rather, it speaks of his game which consists mostly of jump shots — from the post, catch-and-shoot, or pure isolation plays. He also has a penchant for utilizing that one-legged fade-away jump shot — something that the great Dirk Nowitzki made famous. You can tell that he's a diligent student of the game which is always an asset.

His offensive package is clearly what the Sixers need. There are lingering questions on his 3-point shot that can easily be addressed as Todd already has that smooth stroke. His size makes it inevitable for him to defend much stronger and bulkier players. He doesn't have the strength just yet and so he needs to work on this aspect of his game.

Jared Butler (Guard)

Jared Butler may be the better point guard in the late-first round compared to Abmas. The 6-foot-3 guard has been praised by analysts for his playmaking abilities, 3-point shooting (41.6 percent as a junior), and overall confidence in running an offense. Butler was the Final Four Most Outstanding Player for title-winning Baylor Bears, where he averaged an impressive 16.7 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 4.8 assists. Analysts say that he can be a great back-up for Simmons (if the Sixers keep him) or can even play alongside him with the Australian moving up a spot.

The only thing that could stop the Sixers from picking him up is the lingering health concerns. Specifically, Butler has been cited by the Fitness to Play Panel at the 2021 NBA Draft Combine, restricting him from all on-court activities of the pre-draft process unless he receives clearance. In 2018 when he committed to Alabama, he was diagnosed with a heart condition. He moved to Baylor and was cleared for play, fully participating in three years with the team. His medical results are still pending but this could make his draft stock plummet.
